Building a reputation for quality shoes with Italian styling and traditional construction techniques, the Aquila name became synonymous for well-crafted footwear. Over the next few decades expansion into retail across Australia continued steadily as fashion-conscious men caught onto the stylish shoes Aquila create.

Aquila is a family business founded in 1958, after humble beginnings in a small shoe factory in Melbourne, Australia. In Aquila’s early days the company only produced children’s shoes, but soon identified a shortage in the supply of quality men’s footwear which ultimately changed the company’s destiny.

In 2010 Aquila answered a growing need and launched its online store, initially shipping shoes and accessories to Australia and New Zealand, with countries in Asia, Europe and the US added as demand grew.
