H&M Sydney CBD Joins H&M Australia Lineup

H&M Australia is a blossoming entity, and there’s no better place for the fashion giant to truly bloom than at the Pitt Street Mall. A massive, three-level store is scheduled to delight fashionistas of all shapes, sizes, ages and genders with the official H&M Sydney CBD opening slated in late 2015.

Best known for its high-quality fashions at super-low prices, the flagship H&M Sydney CBD shop is expected to span some 5000 metres in Pitt Street Mall’s Glasshouse shopping centre, stocking everything from trendy fashions to sportswear with homewares and shoes in between.

The fashion lineup includes the hot-off-the-catwalk styles that helped make the brand famous for women, men and children. The complete women’s line of clothing spans from the basics to modern classics, inclusive of skirts, kimonos, trousers, swimwear, cardigans, jumpers and even overalls if they happen to be in style at the moment.

Australian men have an equally wide array of choices at H&M , from the latest in blazers, jackets, loungewear, jeans and sporty Tees. The shop's children line of fashions start as early as the newborn, outfitting kids, tweens and teens. Accessories also grace each department, as do different categories of styles that include a conscious collection of sustainable fashions and, of course, racks and racks of new arrivals.

H&M homewares extend from bedroom to the kitchen, with sheets, towels, home décor and accessories for every room in the home. Like the brand’s fashions, its homewares sizzle with the latest trendy styles that keep Australian homes as perky as the fashion-conscious folks who live there.

Making Way for a Fashion Giant

The interior of the L-shaped Glasshouse space will be totally revamped as part of the $30-million redevelopment plan that helped draw H&M Sydney CBD to the Pitt Street Mall, transforming the shopping area between Pitt Street and King Street.

The exterior façade of the building will be retained, sporting historic architecture as the H&M Sydney CBD shopfront. Additional highlights of the H&M Glasshouse shop include new deliveries daily and extended trading hours to accommodate the area’s commuter foot traffic.

H&M Australia Already on Fire

If H&M Sydney packs in the customers like the H&M Melbourne, the store will need all the extended hours it can get. Weekend shoppers at the Melbourne location have had up to a 10 minute wait to enter the store, which has a maximum capacity of 1200 shoppers.

More than 1.7 million customers had patronized the debut Australia shop in Melbourne less than 20 weeks after its April 2014 opening. The second H&M Australia opened in Sydney at North Ryde’s AMP Shopping Centre’s Macquarie Centre in October 2014.

While the H&M Australia shops intend to stock equally wide ranges of options, fashion tastes in the two locations are decidedly different. H&M Australia manager Hans Andersson says Sydney has a vibe that’s similar to L.A., with warmer weather and sportier duds. He pegs Melbourne as having a vibe that’s “a bit more New York.” H&M Sydney fashions are largely influenced by the water and the weather, he says, with workout gear and casual styles a consistent staple.

Although H&M Australia is a rather recent development, the brand itself was founded in 1947. The global fashion leader has more than 3000 stores in 50 different markets. Glasshouse centre’s enhanced layout makes a prime location for the latest H&M Australia, especially with the expected lineup of other top international shops joining the Pitt Street Mall fray. H&M will be in grand company with neighbors that include Forever 21, Uniqlo, Zara and Sephora.
