The TRANSFORMERS global entertainment franchise has provided kids and adults with MORE THAN MEETS THE EYE action for more than 25 years. First introduced in 1984 by Hasbro and Takara as a line of action figures that convert from robots to vehicles and back again, TRANSFORMERS has since spawned countless animated TV series, comic books and three live-action feature films, including the recent mega-hit TRANSFORMERS: DARK OF THE MOON, the first 3D film in the franchise. More than 7,500 ROBOTS IN DISGUISE—including fan-favorite characters like OPTIMUS PRIME, BUMBLEBEE, MEGATRON, STARSCREAM, IRONHIDE, SHOCKWAVE, ARCEE and GRIMLOCK—have been introduced in the franchise, which features the heroic AUTOBOTS and the villainous DECEPTICONS of the planet CYBERTRON doing battle, with the fate of the Earth in the balance.
